William Stephen Eubanks of Boaz, Alabama died December 27th, 2014 at the age of 75. Steve led a full and inspirational life, encouraging everyone he met. A native of Guntersville, Alabama, Steve played basketball and baseball for Marshall County High School and was a lifelong supporter and fan of Guntersville athletics. He graduated in 1957 and stayed in touch with schoolmates throughout his life. He could easily name each member of his first grade class until his last day. Upon graduation from high school, he married his sweetheart, Barbara Ann Cochran, of Albertville, Alabama. In 1964 Steve was called by God into His service. Over the next 50 years he served faithfully by pastoring many churches including Red Apple Baptist, ACIPCO Baptist, First Baptist Crossville Alabama, Pleasant Grove Baptist, First Baptist Red Bay Alabama, First Baptist Attalla Alabama, First Baptist Boaz Alabama, New Heights Baptist and Bethany Baptist. Steve was a graduate of Samford University where he received a Bachelor of Divinity degree. Following Samford, he graduated from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Steve's passions included SEC sports, sports cars, watching his grandchildren play sports, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He is preceeded in death by his parents, William Henry Eubanks (Betty) and Lenora Burdett Eubanks; his uncle, Herschel Burdett; his aunt, Hazel Burdett; his inlaws, Hugh Cochran (Willie), Amoretta Cochran Johnson and Sylvia Cochran Southerland. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cochran Eubanks; children, Dr. William Stephen Eubanks Jr. (Sandy), Mitchell Scott Eubanks (Tracy), and Bradley Shannon Eubanks (Donna); siblings, David, Carla, Lisa and Jeff; his uncle, Fred Burdett (Audrey); inlaws, Randall Southerland (Myra); grandchildren, Alicia Lauren Eubanks, Bethany Jordan Eubanks, Austin Thomas Eubanks, Hannah Elizabeth Eubanks, Clayton Dane Eubanks, Zackary Ryan Eubanks, Bradley Reagan Eubanks, Tyler Christian Eubanks, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Bethany Baptist Church in Horton, Alabama, Tuesday, December 30, 2014. He will lie in state from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. preceeding the service. Visitation will be held at McRae Funeral Home in Boaz, Alabama, on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:30 P.M. Active pallbearers will be Danny Golden, Jerry Don Sims and his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers include the Marshall County High School Class of 1957. Burial at New Macedonia Church on McVille Road in Albertville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gideon's International or Samaritans Purse. He is leaving a legacy of love and laughter to his family and friends and will truly be missed.
