Sylvia Williams

December 14, 1945 — February 13, 2021

Mrs. Sylvia S. Williams, age 75, of Columbus City Road in Marshall County, died on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Marshall Medical Center South.

Sylvia was born in Dothan, Alabama on December 14, 1945 to Adrien & Helen Mercer Smith. She loved children, and she loved music. She combined those loves volunteering at local kindergarten and elementary schools in Marshall county where she sang and played music on her mountain (lap) dulcimer, worked as a Reading Buddy, and performed as a puppeteer with the Marshall County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. Sylvia also brought music to area retirement homes with like-minded volunteers from the Huntsville Traditional Music Association.

Sylvia loved to connect with people and had a kind word for everyone. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in every corner and her quick smile spread joy to all she encountered. Sylvia led a good life, and we are all richer for her being here with us.

Sylvia is survived and lovingly remembered by her Husband: George Williams of Marshall County, Daughter and Son-in-Law: Jennifer Pruitt and Jeff Etelamaki of New York, Granddaughter: Thalia Etelamaki of New York, Brother: Donald Smith and Sister: Debbie Rogers. There will be a celebration of Sylvia's life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to either the Hospice of Marshall County Thrift Shoppe, or the Alabama chapter of Reach Out and Read.
