Mrs. Ruth Plunkett Chandler, age 86, of Boaz, Alabama died Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Vincent's East in Birmingham.
Service will be Thursday May 19, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at McRae Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Richard Pettijohn and Bro. Keith Dodd officiating with Bro. Tommy Pierce providing music. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. McRae Funeral Home of Boaz, Alabama is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Chandler was born in Blount County, Alabama on Oct. 26, 1924 to the late Rev. L. B. & Virgie Rose Shelton Plunkett. She was the widow of the late Oliver Tommy Chandler.
Mrs. Chandler is survived by her Son & Daughter-in-Law: Tommy & Janice Chandler of Rainbow City, Daughter & Son-in-Law: Debra Ann & Brett Yokem of Hanover, PA, Grandchildren: Samuel & Kristin Chandler, Lindsay Erin Chandler and Alex Chandler Yokem, Great Grandchildren: Dublin Oliver Chandler and Kingston Caine Chandler, Sisters & Brother-in-Law: Ruby Jo Holcomb, Geraldine & Jack Rigsby and Virginia Ann Seay all of Boaz, Sister-in-Law: Lucille Chandler McCormrick of Boaz and several nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Sam Chandler, Craig Rigsby, Chuck Rigsby, Jimmy Heard, Richard Polk and Thomas Seay. Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Yokem, Alex Yokem, Doyle Plunkett, Bobby Head, Bill Amberson and Jim Gunter.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to a charity of your choice in memory of Mrs. Chandler.
