Roger Martin

Mr. Roger Martin, age 85, of Boaz, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at two o’clock p.m. in the McRae Chapel with Jerri Manasco officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 16, 2024, from one until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Martin was born on October 17, 1938, to Arthur & Lucille Alewine Martin. He was a lifelong resident of Boaz and a favorite coach of many. Roger graduated from BHS in 1956 where he was both a star in football and basketball, lettering four years. He continued his education at Auburn University, graduating in 1961. He taught math and coached at BMS.   

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife Katie Martin, A chosen son Johnny Gilbreath of Birmingham Two grandchildren, Lindsay and Jakob Gilbreath of Virginia, a nephew, Wesley Martin and 2 nieces, Leisa Smith and Laurie Healy, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Lucille Martin, and his brother, Ronald Martin.
