Linda Bruce

December 16, 1943 - April 16, 2023

Linda Centanni Bruce, age 79, passed away April 16, 2023 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in Albertville, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband George Eugene Bruce and parents Julius Centanni and Lucille Centanni (Luker). She is survived by her brothers Joe Centanni and Ed Centanni, children Paige Batten (Bruce) and Jansen Bruce. Grandchildren Nicholas Batten, Sarah Batten, Brynlee Herron (Bruce) and Lauren Parker (Bruce). Great grandchildren Porter, Amelia and Hadley Herron.

She was born in Mobile, Alabama and raised in Prichard. She obtained a Masters of Education from The University of Alabama and taught sixth grade math at Alabama Avenue middle school in Albertville, Alabama. She retired from teaching after 25 years. She always loved the beach and was so happy once she and her husband moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama. They had so many good friends, fun times and family close by. Travel was always to warm sunny places such as the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Mexico and Hawaii. She had so many fond memories of her “girls trip“ to visit her cousin on the island of Kona. Her home was filled with all things tropical. Life wasn’t always “fun in the sun”. Her sense of strong willed, strength and determination got her through years as a caregiver for her husband, breast cancer, RA, strokes and knee replacement. Nothing made her ever give up her fight to live her life to the fullest. Her final years were at Terrace Lake Assisted Living where she was loved by everyone and her room was full of all her beautiful beach memories as well as endless cups of coffee! Her finals day at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice were a blessing to her family. Please support them through donations in lieu of flowers. There will be a visitation for Mrs. Bruce on Thursday, April 20 from 5 until 6 o’clock PM at McRae funeral home chapel in Boaz Alabama.
