Mr. James Clifton Kelley, age 91 of South Walnut Street, Boaz, Alabama died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at Marshall Medical Center South.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at McRae Chapel, with Tony Gunter officiating, interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. McRae Funeral Home of Boaz, Alabama is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Kelley was born in Alabama on June 17, 1922 to Rollen Chester& Allie Kilpatrick Kelley. Mr. Kelley was a graduate of Boaz High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in England and France. He is the last "Founding Member" of the Boaz VFW. He was a cattle rancher.
Mr. Kelley is survived by his Nieces & Nephews-in-Law: Kelley Clegg Neal & Rev. Donald Neal of Trussville and Mitchie Fay Clegg Neel and Lesley Allen Neel of Pinson, Great Niece: Mary Elizabeth Neal of Helena, Special Friends: Glenda & Bill Lowery of Boaz.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Pendergrass, Kelly Smith, Randy Sullins, Brad Plunkett, Keith Snead, Ricky Cornutt, Henry Foster, Dave McKinney and Dale Gilliland.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to either the Boaz Senior Center, 112 S. Church St., Boaz, AL 35957 or the Blount County Education Foundation, P. O. Box 603, Oneonta, AL 35121.
