Gayla Jo Trussell Murdock age 85 of Boaz, Alabama passed away June 29, 2023, at her homeShe was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Ray and Johnie Leeth Trussell, and her husband, Billy Gene Murdock.

Mrs. Murdock is survived by her three sons and six grandchildren, Joseph Patton Murdock of Atlanta, Andrew Edward Murdock, Kathleen Patton Murdock, John Trussell Murdock (Margaret) of Tuscaloosa, Mary Margaret Murdock, Jane Austin Murdock, James Daniel Murdock (Sherri Lynn) of Birmingham, Katelyn Elizabeth Murdock and Lauren Lane Murdock.  She is also survived by her sister and brother-in law, Fay and Larry Parker.

Gayla was born on December 19, 1937, in Boaz, Alabama and graduated from Crossville High School in 1956 where she was a cheerleader and majoretteFrom humble beginnings on a small family farm in Aroney, she lived around the world with Bill in Mexico City, Mexico; Manila, Philippines; Melbourne, Australia; and New Delhi, India.

She was known for her quick wit, and her love for cooking, entertaining, her family, laughing, and having fun, but not making fun as she would sayMost of all, she was a loving mother who insisted we attend church every Sunday - even in the snow, taught us the value of hard work, honesty, and integrity.

She often laughed when people referred to the ‘good ole’ days’, which were very difficult on that farm, saying these were the best days with modern conveniences and no more work in the fields.

Special thanks to all her caregivers but especially Pam, Kendra, Linda Kay, Nichole, and Shannon who loved her like she was their own motherEven though she was weak over the past few months she didn’t lose her spunk and quick wit.
