Mrs. Charlene Mayo Stewart, 75, of Boaz, Alabama, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Monday, February 17, 2025.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born on March 24, 1949, in Sardis, Alabama, to James Bernard and Barbara Rowan Mayo.
Charlene dedicated her life to sharing knowledge, kindness and wisdom. As an elementary school librarian, she left an enduring legacy in the hearts of thousands of students. She knew each child by name, and no matter where she went, she was always greeted by a familiar face.
If one word could define Charlene, it would be love-love for the Lord, love for her family, love for her flower garden, and love for every student who walked through her library doors.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Stewart of Boaz; her daughters, Shann Baugh of Horton, Kaci (Brad) Bowen of Boaz, and Leanne Sumner of Nashville; her cherished grandchildren, Gunnar (Connor) Hurst, Everett Bowen, and Sadie and Emmett Alexander.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Barbara Mayo, and her Brother, James “Buddy” Mayo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to 2nd Chance Animal Shelter, 130 Co. Rd. 398, Boaz, AL 35957, in honor of her compassionate spirit.
